Tebogo Malebogo

Biography

Tebogo Malebogo is a South African writer and director based between New York City and Johannesburg. His goal is to create narratives that imagine Black and South African stories and perspectives not often seen in cinema.

Malebogo's films have screened at Locarno Film Festival, New York Film Festival, New Directors/New Films, SXSW, Clermont-Ferrand, AFI Fest, and Blackstar among others. His works have been programmed on Le Cinéma Club, Topic, Vimeo Staff Picks, Argo, and MUBI. He has been supported by BAFTA, Berlinale Talents, The New York Foundation for the Arts, and initiatives at New York University, where he studied on scholarship in the Graduate Film Department.
