Biography

Adythia Utama is a Jakarta-based filmmaker working at the intersection of documentary, sound, and performance. He was born in Ottawa and grew up in Jakarta. He later graduated in 2010 with bachelor of art degree from Jakarta Institute of the Arts concentrating in documentary. His films move between sound, performance, and personal mythology, often emerging from Indonesia’s underground scenes. His latest feature-length documentary, A DISTORTED INDIVIDUAL., won Best Indonesian Feature-Length Documentary at Festival Film Dokumenter (FFD). His earlier work includes BISING: noise and experimental music in Indonesia (2014).
